Postkarte Luftschiff Hindenburg LZ 129, Absage Deutschlandfahrt 1. Mai 1937
eine der letzten beförderten Postsendungen mit der "Hindenburg" vor der Katastrophe, adressiert an Frl. Helene Planer in Ulm a/d. Für den 1. Mai 1937 war für den Zeppelin eine Deutschlandfahrt geplant. Wegen schlechter Wetterverhältnisse wurde dieser Flug jedoch abgesagt. Der für diese Fahrt geplante Postabwurf konnte deshalb nicht mehr stattfinden. Stattdessen wurde eine Nordamerikafahrt von Frankfurt über Köln nach Lakehurst (New Jersey, USA) geplant und die Post auf dieser Fahrt in Köln abgeworfen. Deshalb auch rot gestempelt "Wegen Ausfalls der Deutschlandfahrt Postabwurf bei Nordamerikafahrt" sowie den Bordstempel "Luftschiff Hindenburg Deutschlandfahrt 1.Mai 1937". Die letzte Station der Hindenburg in Europa war somit der Kölner Flughafen Butzweilerhof. Das Luftschiff verunglückte bei der Landung in Lakehurst da sich die Wasserstofffüllung entzündete. 10,5 x 14,8cm.

one of the last mailings carried by the "Hindenburg" before the disaster, addressed to Ms. Helene Planer in Ulm a/d. A flight to Germany was planned for the Zeppelin on May 1, 1937. However, due to bad weather conditions, this flight was cancelled. The mail drop planned for this flight could therefore no longer take place. Instead, a North American flight from Frankfurt via Cologne to Lakehurst (New Jersey, USA) was planned and the mail on this flight was dropped in Cologne. Therefore also stamped in red "Due to cancellation of the Germany trip mail drop on North America trip" as well as the boarding stamp "Luftschiff Hindenburg Deutschlandfahrt 1.Mai 1937". The Hindenburg’s last stop in Europe was thus Cologne’s Butzweilerhof Airport. The airship crashed on landing in Lakehurst because the hydrogen filling ignited. 10,5 x 14,8cm
