Borghesischer Fechter – Antikenreplik in Bronze auf Marmorsockel
Reduktion aus Bronze des sogenannten borghesischen Fechters von Agasias aus Ephesos (3. Jh. v. Chr.), der 1611 in den Überresten einer Villa des Nero entdeckt wurde. Die antike Marmorskulptur steht heute im Louvre in Paris. Darstellung zeigt eines gegen einen Reiter ankämpfenden Kriegers mit Schwert und Schild, die im Original nicht erhalten blieben! Montiert ist die Bronzeplastik auf einem zweiteiligen Marmosockel. Bronze dunkelbraun patiniert mit stellenweise leichten Abriebspuren. Arbeit wohl 1. Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts, guter Zustand. Gesamthöhe 35cm, Gewicht 7.2 kg

Reduction in bronze of the so-called Borghese fencer of Agasias from Ephesus (3rd century BC), which was discovered in 1611 in the remains of a villa of Nero. The ancient marble sculpture is now in the Louvre in Paris. Depiction shows a warrior fighting against a horseman with a sword and shield, which were not preserved in the original! Mounted is the bronze sculpture on a two-piece marble base. Bronze dark brown patinated with light traces of abrasion in places. Work probably 1st half of the 20th century, good condition. Total height 35cm (13.78 inch), weight 7.2 kg
